The barcode algorithm is designed to estimate which
genes are expressed and which are unexpressed in a
given microarray hybridization. The output of our
algorithm is a vector of ones and zeros denoting
which genes are estimated to be expressed (ones)
and unexpressed (zeros). We call this a gene

**A note to our users: we will be upgrading the gene expression barcode over the next few weeks.
Our goal is to minimize any disruptions to the website, but please be patient as we work to bring
you new and improved gene expression data.
October 7, 2013- We have fixed most of the technical problems we encountered over the weekend. However, we will have to
take the barcode website offline for a short period of time today to improve our long-term performance. Thank
you for your patience.
*Update- most functionality has been restored. We realize there are some issues to be worked out and we are
addressing them as quickly as possible.
October 8, 2013- We have been experiencing high demand with the Barcode 3.0 release and some of your queries may come up blank
due to the server timing out. We are working on solutions, but for the moment you may need to try using the website during
off-peak hours. Thank you.
October 9, 2013- We have fixed bugs in "Expressed Genes" and "Tissue Comparison", which we believe restores full function for
those tools. If you find another bug, please contact us. We have greatly increased the speed of searches for the "Search by
AffyID and GSM" and "Search by Tissue" tools for the v2 platforms and U133a 2.0 and Mouse 1.0 ST v3 platforms. We are working
on the other platforms and hope to finish shortly. Thank you for your support of Barcode 3.0!
October 15, 2013- The search speeds for the v3 platforms of HGU133 plus 2.0, MOE 430 2.0 and Human 1.0 ST have now
been greatly increased.
October 29, 2013- We have fixed a bug under "Probe Set Pages", which caused some queries to return empty results. Please
notify us of any other suspicious results by using the "Contact Us" page or the email link at the bottom of this page.
November 7, 2013- We have added consensus tumor information to U133a v3 and U133 plus 2.0 v3.
